Hanson PD Comfort K9

In June of 2022, Chief Michael Miksch helped develop and introduce the Hanson Police Department’s first ever Community Resource Dog (CRD), or Comfort Dog, program. Through a grant from Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz’ office and four generous donations from private citizens, Cheif Miksch assigned School Resource officer Derek Harrington as the department’s CRD handler.

CRD Ziva joined the department in July 2023. Ziva is an English Cream Golden Retriever born August 29th, 2022. Ziva comes from Golden Opportunities for Independence, a breeder out of Walpole that specialists in breeding service dogs. Ziva holds multiple certifications from the American Kennel Club and is also trained for searching for missing persons, “friendly finds.”

Ziva makes frequent visits around the Hanson community and is often at the Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, Hanson Middle School, and the Indian Head Elementary School. Ziva can be used to help comfort people in distress, ease anxiety, and help bring a smile to those she meets. Ziva is a fun and loving dog who thoroughly enjoys making new friends and helping anyone in need. Follow Ziva on Instagram!
