The Motorcycle Unit is used primarily for traffic enforcement and operates 5 a.m. – 12 a.m. daily weather permitting. Motorcycles are also used in parades, at funeral processions and in large crowds.
In July 1999 Hanson business owner Bob Sullivan of Sullivan Bros. Inc. donated a 1999 Harley Davidson Police Motorcycle to the Hanson Police Department. The motorcycle was ordered and equipped through the efforts of Hanson officers Deputy Chief Michael D. Casey.
The Motorcycle Unit currently includes five trained officers.
