Hanson Police Respond to Crash Involving Tractor Trailer
HANSON — Chief Michael Miksch reports that the Hanson Police Department responded to a crash where a driver collided with the rear of a tractor trailer Thursday morning.
At approximately 10:15 a.m., Hanson Emergency Communications received multiple 911 calls reporting a motor vehicle crash on Liberty Street (Route 58), near Hanson Middle School.
Upon arrival, officers found that a 2008 Pontiac Torrent had struck the rear of a tractor trailer.
The driver and sole occupant of the Pontiac, a 50-year-old Carver woman, was seriously injured. She was taken by ambulance to a nearby field at Indian Head School where she was then airlifted to a Boston hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
An initial investigation indicates that the tractor trailer was stopped at a traffic light when the Pontiac struck the rear of the truck. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Hanson Police Department.
Route 58 was closed for approximately an hour-and-a-half while the scene was still active. The road has since been reopened. The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department and Hanson Highway Department assisted on the scene.
