HANSON — Chief Michael Miksch reports that the Hanson Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash where a woman was seriously injured Wednesday night.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., the Hanson Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 58 Monponsett St. (Route 58) for a report of a car that struck a utility pole.
Upon arrival, first responders located a 49-year-old Halifax woman who suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. The woman was transported by a Hanson Fire ambulance to the Indian Head School. From there, the woman was picked up by a medical helicopter and transported to Boston Medical Center. Her condition is unknown at this time.
Through an on-scene investigation, it was determined that the woman, who was driving a Ford Fusion sedan, went off the road and struck a utility pole, snapping the pole.
The woman was the only occupant of the vehicle and no other injuries were reported.
Route 58 near the scene will be closed while crews work to repair the pole and clear the scene. Residents in the area may be without power while the utility pole is being repaired.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Hanson Police Department.
