HANSON — Chief of Police Michael Miksch reports that the Hanson Police Department has arrested three individuals following a string of vehicle break-ins yesterday morning.
JESSSE MILLERICK, 29, OF BROCKTON; ELIZABETH GERMAIN, 19, OF QUINCY; AND JAMES NICHOLSON, 29, OF BROCKTON were each charged with the following:
- Breaking and Entering to a Vehicle in the Nighttime
- Larceny Under $1,200
- Receiving Stolen Property
At approximately 4 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, Hanson Police were notified of a possible breaking and entering of a vehicle on Cross Street. The vehicle’s owner had called police when her car’s app reported an open door. The owner reported that upon checking the vehicle it appeared that someone had gone through the car but nothing appeared to be missing.
While on Cross Street, Hanson Police officers were notified of a second reported vehicle break-in on the street, and that someone had seen three people, two males and a female, walking in the area.
Officers Brent Peterson and Bryan Rodday began to search the area and a vehicle was located behind the Maquan Elementary School building. Officers noticed wallets, small tools and credit cards in plain view inside the vehicle. The vehicle was brought to the Hanson Police Station and a search warrant was sought from and granted by Plymouth District Court.
Officers continued their search of the area with a K-9 Unit from the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department. At approximately 7 a.m. Officer Derek Harrington located three individuals, later identified as MILLERICK, GERMAIN and NICHOLSON, in the area of the Maquan School matching the description previously given to police. All were taken into custody.
In total six vehicles on Cross Street, Crescent Street and Crescent Place were all entered. The vehicles were all unlocked.
“I want to thank all Hanson officers and the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department for their quick and efficient search of the area that resulted in these arrests,” Chief Miksch said. “We urge residents to always lock their vehicles and never leave valuables in view to help prevent break-ins.”
