This Week’s Topic: Utility Scam Safety Tips 
Scammers posing as utility company employees are a real threat. Follow these important safety tips from the Hanson Police Department to protect yourself:
Beware of Unsolicited Visitors: Be cautious of anyone coming to your home unannounced, offering to do utility work.
Do Not Let Them Inside: Never allow solicitors inside your home.
Be Firm: Politely but firmly tell them you’re not interested and ask them to leave. If they refuse, call the police immediately.
Verify Their Identity: If you hire a utility worker, ask for proof of company affiliation.
When in Doubt, Call: If you’re unsure about someone’s legitimacy, contact the Utility company at the number on your most recent bill or call Hanson Police at 781-293-4625.
